My name's Lachlan Jones and I want to run games of Dungeons & Dragons (or most any other tabletop role playing game) for you and your friends.
I have run games for my friends at home and for complete strangers through organised play programs (like the D&D Adventurers' League and Pathfinder Society). I've been doing this for more than 30 years and my regular players keep coming back for more.
A lot has changed since I first started out in this hobby but one thing has remained true for me throughout - I want more people to learn about and become involved in it. For that reason, running games for me isn't just been about bringing fictional worlds to life and refereeing rules, it's about being an advocate for every player at the table.
The key ingredients, in my view, for this are:
Making everyone feel welcome and safe
Ensuring each player feels involved
Giving the group what they want*
That last point deserves some explanation, hence the asterisk. It's not necessarily about making my games easy - some groups want the game to be difficult so victories feel like triumphs. It's about reading the room and learning from players what they want to see and do and me being able to change tact and be willing to go in different directions based on what they're interested in.
When you hire me as a DM, I will be bringing these principles to every table.
